Wednesday, February 17, 2010 05:16 - Units responded with the 2nd BFC for the report of a house on fire with a person trapped in the basement. First arriving E30 and T17 found fire showing from the basement. Rescue 3 and BFC3 responded on the initial box with E15 picking up the working fire dispatch. Rescue 3 located 1 victim in the basement that had already perished. The secondary search revealed negative results. BFC3 was the Basement Division Supervisor and coordinated the efforts there. Units returned back to Anacostia at 0645 hours. 1 Fireman from the Heights sustained 2nd degree burns and is being held overnight in the Burn Unit at MedStar; the Anacostia Brothers wish him a speedy recovery.
