DCFD ASSIST BAFB WITH HOUSE FIRE

Shortly after 0830 this morning units with the 3rd Battalion were alerted to a mutual aide call to assist BAFB units with a house fire on base. Units had fire in a 2 story middle of the row with exposure problems on both sides. Engine 15 was assigned to assist with the interior attack in the original fire building and Rescue 3 arrived and assumed the RIT responsibilities. The fire was under control in about 45 minutes and DCFD units began clearing the scene and left with the Bolling Units.

 
   
   
ACCIDENT ON I295

At 0400 this morning units in southeast were dispatched to an auto accident on I295 southbound. First arriving units confirmed that one person was trapped and Rescue 3 was alerted to the call. The Rescue arrived and went to work removing all the doors and cutting the roof off of the vehicle to remove one patient.

 
   
   
RESCUE 3 MAKES RESCUE ON FIRE IN SOUTHEAST

Around 0315hrs this morning units with the 3rd battalion were dispatched to 2616 33rd ST. SE for the report of a house on fire with reports of a child trapped. Engine 32 arrived first and reported fire showing from the basement of a 2 story single family home. Engine assumed the 3rd due responsibilities and supplied and backed up 32 Engine. Rescue 3 arrived and went to work initiating a search of the home, the child was located on the 2nd floor removed from the home and turned over to awaiting EMS on scene. The fire was quickly contained and units began clearing the scene in under an hour. Great Job by all involved

 
5825 FIELD PLACE N.E

Just before 4 this morning units with the 2nd battalion were dispatched for the reported house on fire at 5825 Field PL. NE. Engine 30 arrived with heavy fire showing from side C of the house an interior attack was initiated but units were pulled out shortly after arrival due to structural collapse of the fire building. The fire extended to the bravo exposure but was quickly controlled by the units on scene, rescue 3 completely the primary and secondary searches of the exposure which were both negative. units began clearing the scene in about an hour.

This morning while most units in the 3rd battalion were busy on other calls a call was dispatched for a house fire in 15 Engines local alarm district, due to other units being busy Rescue 3 was the first unit on the scene and reported fire showing from the second floor. Once inside it was discovered that there was heavy fire on the first and second floors and a second alarm was transmitted, it took units on the scene a little over an hour to get the blaze under control.

 
   
   
HOUSE FIRE ON NUMBER 1 PLATOON

Shortly before midnight units with the 3rd battalion were alerted to Foxhall PL. S.E for the report of a house fire with people trapped. First arriving units found fire showing from the second floor and Truck 8 removed one victim from a 2nd floor window. Engine 15 arrived 4th due and assumed those responsibilities backing up the 2nd due company. Rescue 3 assumed the rescue group completing the primary and secondary searches of the home. Units had the fire under control in 15 Minutes and began clearing the scene in under an hour.

 
   
   
APARTMENT FIRE ON #4

At 0153 hrs units with the 3rd battalion were alerted for the apartment fire at 832 Barnaby ST. S.E units arrived to find fire showing from the top floor of a 4 story apartment building. Engine 15 assumed 4th due responsiblities picking up 25 engines line and backing them up. Rescue 3 arrived and was assigned to the rescue group the searches proved to be negative and units had the fire under control in under 30 minutes.

Units in the 3rd Battalion were dispatched for a double local for smoke @ 3037 Naylor Road S.E. As units were leaving their station commutations upgrade the double local to a box smoke coming from the store. First arriving units found smoke showing from a one-story taxpayer, Trucks 16 & 7 along with Rescue 3 went to work on the roll up doors making entry and Rescue3, conducted their search that proved negative. The fire was brought under control within 20 minute’s command 3 held the box with 2+2. 15Engine was 3rd Due

 
   
   
OVERTURNED VEHICLE

Just after 1900 hours Rescue 3 was dispatched for a reported rollover with people trapped @ Minnesota Ave & Hunt Pl. N.E. Engine 27 reported on the scene with an SUV overturned with one person trapped, Rescue 3 arrived going to work using the rescue jacks, Amkus system and misc tools freeing the victim within 20 minutes.

 
   
   
ROWHOUSE FIRE

Around 2:30 PM Units with the 3rd Battalion Chief were dispatched for a Rowhouse fire @ 1140 Barnaby Terrace S.E. Truck 8 arrived to find a two-story rowhouse with a basement, middle of the row fire showing from the first and second floors. Rescue 3 arrived behind truck 8 and had minutes without an engine company due to units being on other calls, 25 Engine was added to the box from the training Academy and went first due, Rescue 3 conducted the primary and secondary which proved negative in the fire building and exposures. Command 3 placed the incident under control and held 2 and 2,15 Engine was OOS at the shop.

OVERTURNED SUV

Rescue3 along with other units from the 3rd Battalion were dispatched for an over turned auto in the woods with people trapped. Units arrived to find a SUV that had rolled over landing on it’s side with 2 victims trapped and a 3rd pinned. Rescue 3 arrived going work stabilizing the SUV while contacting a size up then going to work with the Amkus System. Rescue 3 completed the extrication within 20 minutes, other units on the scene was Engine 43 and the Chief from Boling AFB.

Congratulation’s to Technician Jimmy Hull Celebrates 28 year’s service with DCFD, Jimmy was appointed to 15 Engine on October 14, 1984 and is currently the wagon driver on #2.

 
APARTMENT FIRE

At 0813 this morning units with the 3rd battalion were alerted to reported smoke in the building at 401 Orange ST. S.E.  A25 was the first arriving unit an advised that they had fire showing from the 2nd floor side D of the building. Engine 15 arrived 3rd due and supplied 1st due Engine 25 and advanced a line to back up the first due company. Rescue 3 arrived began their searches both of which proved negative. The fire was bought under control within 10 minutes and units began clearing the scene in under an hour.


 
   
   
WATER RESCUE

Rescue 3 along with the Special Operation Battalion Chief were alerted for a Water rescue on the Potomac River,Reported 19 people in the water. Fire Boats 2 and 3 arrived and went to work removing the victims from the water a few victims were removed from the rivers edge by DCFD. Rescue3 arrived and stood fast while the fire boats conducted a secondary which proved negative. All victims were rescued and safe. All evaluated; no transports.
